With Christmas just over a week away I'm sure nearly every radio station you scan through is playing some type of Christmas music. Everyone has their favorite Christmas song that is in turn sung by their favorite artist/band/group. Every year it seems like they start playing them earlier and earlier too. For me I never have a problem with it because I enjoy listening to Christmas music. Christian music stations are no different as they're all playing traditional Christmas tunes by Christian artists....but when you think about it isn't their regular music technically Christmas music too? Just a random thought.
One song that is quickly becoming one of my favorites is Come Now Our King by Chris August. Some of you are probably familiar with Chris's song Starry Night while others might remember him originally as Ashlee Simpson's keyboardist. Regardless he is extremely talented as proven by his multiple Dove Awards he took home this past year and the time Starry Night spent at #1. It's not your traditional Silver Bells or Silent Night but I really enjoy all the aspects of this song; especially the words. In our current society focused on Black Friday and the best deals they can get on gifts for Christmas the lyrics take us back over 2000 years to remind us of the coming King who will one day return in a much different fashion. So take the time to listen to this song and not just with your ears....use your heart and put the focus back on the true meaning of Christmas.
Bethlehem turns in tonight
A town led up by candle light
All the children tuck in tight
Bethlehem turns in tonight
The angels start their whispering
About the one they're welcoming
No one knows what's soon to be
As the angels start their whispering
Chorus
They sing glory
In the highest
Come now our King
We've been
Waiting
Come now our King
Silence falls
Yet once again
The shepherds leave for Bethlehem
Baby's cry soon welcomes them
Silence falls yet once again
They sing glory
In the highest
Come now our King,
A town led up by candle light
All the children tuck in tight
Bethlehem turns in tonight
The angels start their whispering
About the one they're welcoming
No one knows what's soon to be
As the angels start their whispering
Chorus
They sing glory
In the highest
Come now our King
We've been
Waiting
Come now our King
Silence falls
Yet once again
The shepherds leave for Bethlehem
Baby's cry soon welcomes them
Silence falls yet once again
They sing glory
In the highest
Come now our King,
We've been
Waiting
Come now our King
Ooooh
Glory, Oh glory
You came here to save
Ooh Lord, we've been waiting so
Come now our King
Now my night has turned today
An empty manger, empty grave
Baby born so I could say
Now my night has turned today
Ooh, We sing glory
In the highest
Come now our King, oh ooh
We've been
Waiting
Come now our king
Ooh ooh, Come now our King.
Waiting
Come now our King
Ooooh
Glory, Oh glory
You came here to save
Ooh Lord, we've been waiting so
Come now our King
Now my night has turned today
An empty manger, empty grave
Baby born so I could say
Now my night has turned today
Ooh, We sing glory
In the highest
Come now our King, oh ooh
We've been
Waiting
Come now our king
Ooh ooh, Come now our King.
